Eva add/subtract decimals

1.Belle had 0.15 grams of pepper. Then she used 0.01 grams of the pepper to make some scrambled eggs. How much pepper does Belle have left?  0-1=1  1-0=.1  .5-.0=.5   =2.5

2. A gymnast competed in balance beam and vault. She scored 5.69 points on the balance beam and 9.38 points on the vault. How many points total did she score in the two events?  5+9=14  6+3=8  9+3=12 = 22.12

3. A chef bought 0.77 kilograms of almonds and 0.3 kilograms of pecans. How many kilograms of nuts did the chef buy in all? 0+0=0  .7+.0=.7  .7+.3=.10  =17.0

4. A carpenter bought a piece of wood that was 0.6 metres long. Then she sawed 0.2 metres off the end. How long is the piece of wood now?
0-0=0  .6-.2=.4  =4.0

5. Colton mixed 0.02 grams of salt into a pot of soup he was cooking. Before he served the soup, Colton added 0.16 grams of salt. How much salt did Colton put into the soup in all?  0=0=0  .0-.1=.1  .2-.6=.4   = 5.0

6. Debbie bought a piece of fabric that was 9.5 metres long. Then she cut 2.8 metres of it off to use in a sewing project. How much fabric is left? 9-2=7 .5-.8=.3   =7.3

7. Russell bought two rolls of tape. The first roll had 8.24 metres of tape and the second roll had 9.99 metres of tape. How many metres of tape did Russell buy in all? 8+9=17  2+9=11  4+9=13  = 47

8. A carpenter bought a piece of wood that was 8.3 centimetres long. Then he sawed 7.2 centimetres off the end. How long is the piece of wood now? 8-7=1  3-2=.1   =.2

9. Marie runs 8.7 kilometres every morning. One day, she runs 3 kilometres and then stops to take a break. How much further does Marie have left to run? 8+3=11   =11.7

10. Jeffrey bought 0.49 kilograms of apples and 0.94 kilograms of oranges. How much fruit did he buy in all?  0-0=0  .4-.9=.5  .9-.4=5  =10.0
